Microchipping
We understand that one of a pet owners’ worst fears is their pet getting lost. Collars can help with identification on lost pets, but there are many cats who won't tolerate a collar or lose them. Collars can also pose a health risk for cats if they were to get stuck on something and not break away. The best way to make sure your pet always has identification is by getting them microchipped.
Microchipping your pet is a safe and easy procedure. Using a syringe, a small microchip about the size of a grain of rice is inserted just under the skin over the shoulder blades. Overall, the procedure takes only a few minutes, and is very similar to giving an injection. Most pets do not show signs of pain when this microchip is inserted, however, we regularly recommend having this done when they are under sedation for other procedures such a spaying, neutering, or dentals, just to keep any discomfort to a minimum.
Once the microchip is inserted, we will enter your information into our online system which will automatically update the microchips website. This allows anyone who finds your pet to easily scan the microchip and find your information to bring your pet home.
